- 2 Pounds of AH Farms Beef Soup Bones
- 3 Carrots
- 1 Whole Onion
- 2 Stalks Celery
- Optional Seasonings: bay leaves, thyme, parsley, or garlic
Roughly chop carrots, onion, and celery. Place soup bones and chopped veggies in a large stock pot with approx. 10 cups of water. The water level should be just above the top of the ingredients. Heat to a slow simmer approx. 180-200 degrees. As the Bone Broth cooks use a metal spoon and skim the fat and brown scum off the top. Do not stir the broth as it cooks. Let it cook a minimum of 6 hours and maximum of 24. After cooking remove the large veggies and meat pieces. Using cheesecloth strain the Bone Broth. Allow to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate. The Bone Broth will form a protective fat layer on top to protect the Bone Broth from bacteria. Remove the fat layer and use the Bone Broth for cooking or eating.
brown the AH Farms Beef Soup Bones before placing in the stock pot. Be sure to add the drippings and brown pan scrapings to the bone broth!
