In the circle of everything that is the life of a farmer, cattle farmers, death is an inevitable part of the process.
When an animal dies on our farm, suddenly, and not part of the process we grieve.
Even when we think we are not allowed to.
Just have to move on, it’s part of the job.
This week we lost a heifer.
No signs of any injury or sickness.
Just a sudden death.
This is heartbreaking to our family.
Our cattle are not just a living, they are our passion, our way of life.
We buried the heifer and mourned the loss.
Then we got back to work, back to our herd.
Life on the farm must go on, sometimes hand in hand with death.
